Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of 2023.

Success also signifies he has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
